The Role
As a Neonatal Nurse, you will provide expert nursing care to newborn infants with a range of medical needs, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe and effective care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist neonatal nursing care to premature and critically unwell newborns.
- Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in babies’ clinical conditions.
- Support the delivery of evidence-based neonatal care.
- Administer medications and treatments safely in line with clinical guidelines.
- Monitor vital signs, feeding, growth, and developmental progress.
- Support respiratory care, nutritional needs, and specialist interventions where required.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records.
- Provide emotional support, guidance, and education to parents and families.
- Work collaboratively with neonatal doctors, nurses, midwives, and wider healthcare professionals.
- Promote safeguarding, infection prevention, and patient safety standards.
Essential Requirements
- Current NMC Registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Previous experience working within Neonatal services is essential.
- Minimum 6 months’ UK neonatal nursing experience.
- Experience within NICU, SCBU, neonatal units, or maternity-related services is desirable.
- Valid Enhanced DBS.
- Professional references covering the last 3 years of employment.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Compassionate approach to supporting babies and families.
- Right to work in the UK.
